  • This GT40 Mk1 (chassis number P/1070) was bought as a Road Spec car on the 17th March 1967 by Roger West, where it was entered into an SCCA race at Selma, Alabama (and competed under the number 76).

    After this race it looks to have changed hands 6 times before being destroyed by fire in 1970. Bob Gressard took ownership of what was left after the fire (photos indicate it was nothing more than a burnt out shell at this point).

    In the early 2000's, the car was restored back by to original condition and spec by Gelscoe Motorsport, and has since appeared at a number of classic and historic racing events, including Goodwood and the Spa 6hrs at the hands of Richard Meins and Timothy Huxley.

    If you compare this car to the one I posted previously, you can see that this car has the bubble above the driver that provided slightly more headroom for the taller racer and ensures that with a helmet on, the driver isn't required to tilt his head over to one side.
