  • The Jaguar XJ220 was produced between 1992 and 1994, in conjunction with Tom Walkinshaw Racing (JWR), and very briefly held the fastest production car record in 1992 (213.478 mph) (343.560 km/h), until McLaren came along with the mighty F1 in 1993 that took the crown with a 231 mph top speed.

The XJ220 was designed by a group of Jaguar employees working in their spare time, and was based on a V12 four wheel drive concept that was later scaled back to use a turbocharged V6 engine. A total of 275 cars were produced, reduced from the initial plant to manufacture 350, mainly as the economy took a hit and investors who had committed to buy when the car market was on the up backed out. Three years after manufacturing had ended, there were still some cars left unsold. Its surprising to find that McLaren had a similar issue with the F1, with only 71 being sold as the recession left people unable to complete their purchases. Looking at the value of these cars today, there must be some who are frustrated at what could have been.
